Canada's Gems

Canada is known for being a beautiful country but many Canadian's don't take the time to travel throughout their own country. Usually choosing to vacation in Mexico, the US, or even Europe. A cheap alternative is to go somewhere in our own backyard.

One place people have to visit and it doesn't matter what time of year it is even though many people would probably only consider it in the winter is Whistler BC. Home to the Winter 2010 Olympics Whistler is a great ski and snowboard attraction with world class ski runs. Whistler mountain has runs for all skill levels, trust me if I can ski on it anyone can... Not to worry thought if skiing or boarding isn't your thing there are other things to do. Whistler Village itself is one of the cutest places you will ever go; and with no car access in the village the roads are safe for pedestrians to walk around the town as they please. Some activities include snowshoeing, taking a dog sleigh, or checking out one of the many good bars in town.

Not to mention the unlimited amount of spas to go to! Whistler is not only the perfect skiers paradise but also a great place to get away and relax at. If you feel like having more of a wild time it also has many top nightclubs which host world famous DJ's regularly.

If your more of a summer person Whistler is still a great getaway. With multiple lakes within walking distance to a 5 minute drive from the village there are tons of places to go float and enjoy the hot weather. Set up with beach volleyball and baseball parks you can always find something to do. The main attraction in the summer is the mountain biking trails. They turn the ski hills into biking hills and host a big mountain biking event called Crankworx. This event goes on for two weeks and offers tons of events to watch.

So whether you enjoy winter or summer Whistler has a little something for everyone. Definitely a must see!
